Breaking News: Greenlaw's Achilles Surgery Reveals Success!

The path to rehabilitation has been formally begun by Dre Greenlaw.

According to a source cited by NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, the 49ers’ star linebacker had surgery on Thursday to repair a complete tear of his Achilles tendon

which he tore in the second quarter of Super Bowl LVIII against the Kansas City Chiefs. The procedure was successful.

Rapoport further by saying that Greenlaw should fully recover, albeit the time it would take is yet unknown.

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers made headlines in Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season for his lightning-fast four-month recovery from a comparable injury,

while it usually takes NFL players nine to twelve months to return to action after sustaining a ruptured Achilles tendon.

When the 49ers and Chiefs saw the severity of Greenlaw's injury on Sunday, it sent shockwaves through the benches of both teams.

The cherished linebacker will now have a long way to go before he can play a full 2024 season due to his injury.
